The Doula/midwife movement started in the US in 1969 by Dr. Raphael. Enlisting non medical assistance for all stages of birthing. Little did she know the word Doula in Luke 1:38 was used when Mary surrendered her womb to birth the Son of God. Women were created to birth physically and spiritually, WHAT ARE YOU BIRTHING?
